If they were to approve dual-citizenship, I dont think it would be a bad idea to do it.

According to my attorney, US does NOT care how many citizenships you have.

Yes they are toying with it but you best consult with an immigration attorney before you do anything. Remember, this is the day and age of data proliferation. Until they allow you to have dual citizenship, they might frown on it and you might have issues. I know that we could not have dual citizenship and had an issue because we have CPF money there tied up in a house. So once we got citizenship here, we gave up the other one, not that we regretted it. Just saying, be careful.

Oddly enough, I agree with singapore on that. After all, they should be able to know where you stand during crunch time. If I were a singaporean, I'd want to know whether you would take your US passport and run home at the first sign of trouble or whether you will stick it out with me here.

I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.

There's the oath and there's actual policy. Though, I guess a fully honorable person would keep the oath and renounce:

Sure.

There are always varying levels.

Ideally they'll resonate.

Why would one choose dishonor?

Easier than being honorable.

Botnst 09-05-2011 10:52 PM

Okay, if a life of bestial ease is the target, then compromising one's honor is a small thing. Laughably small.

Not always a choice -- some countries make it basically impossible to renounce citizenship.

Look around. Seem much honor? I don't.

Care to elaborate?

Now you know the price of your honor. This is an opportunity few men survive. Who are men.

In all honesty aklim, I don't give a damn what other people do, I don't have to live with their consciouses. I answer to myself.

Well, be that as it may, my point is that there isn't much honor out there or do you disagree?

sjh 09-06-2011 12:16 AM

I always like this definition

honor: possessing truth and integrity.
