Yes Brian, your grocery prices are higher then ours out here in Indianoplace, but prices are on a stiff upward rise. That, coupled with high fuel prices is going to make life miserable for many families. But with that no brainer ruining the economy for at least the next 18 months, might as well expect more of it. Anytime we get a group of people who think they run this country without even a thought of a budget, we will be in big trouble!

Check the container carefully, Brian. Is that OJ a half gallon? Or is it 59 fluid ounces?

Milk around here is $2.99 for a gallon, $2 when on sale. Half gallon usually around $1.99
Maybe its just because you're on the ea$t coa$t. I got half a gallon of milk and two half gallons of OJ (the good stuff, and 64oz) the other day for $7.

Thank that plastic-diamond merchant Bernanke.
Pity a 9.0 earthquake didn't hit Jackson Hole about a week ago! Would have paid money to see news footage of the press conference followed by the ceiling crashing down and agonized screaming. Last edited by spdrun; 09-03-2011 at 10:13 PM. |

The same situation obtains in San Francisco, whose gas stations have the highest prices anywhere in California. SF and NY aree among the highest cities in the country as regards cost of living. Quite simply put, the quality of life there is higher than in Loos Gravel, Arkansas or places like that. My best friend went to New York for the first time, he is a lawyer living in a suburb of the SF bay area and reported to me: ?New York City is the PERFECT place to live if you have UNLIMITED money". I would make the same claim for San Francisco as a 30 year resident/homeowner/taxpayer there. though I was only middle class at best.

Blue Point is about 60 miles out from the city. Problem with not living in Boston, NYC, SF, SD, or maybe DC, is that there are few other real cities in this country. More like glorified, stinking, boring suburbs. i.e. if I wanted it cheaper, I'd sooner move to Prague than Palatine, IL. Those prices do seem expensive. Here in the middle of NYC, I paid $3.79 for 1/2 gal of OJ last week, per my receipt. If you go to Brooklyn, food is slightly cheaper. Gas also isn't a huge problem. To get most places from NYC, you have to drive via NJ, which has some of the cheapest gas in the country (and they pump it for you). |

I can also find it cheaper if I go to Costco or get a sale. These are just the typical full retail prices at King Kullen, typically a average priced market. |
