In school watched it all unfold all day, except one math teacher who insisted on business as usual.
I had to drive on the sidewalk to get around all the cars lined up for the gas station. Many ran out because of the hysterical rush. Most of the day I watched it unfold on ABC with Peter Jennings. If I remember correctly, he took up smoking again following 9/11 and died of lung cancer 3-4 years after. I also remember my high school social studies teacher having a debate about whether to go into Iraq. It was something ridiculous like 90% for and 10% against.

I had just left the Pentagon a short time earlier after being there since midnight with an overwhelming NEED to be anywhere but there (the only time I've ever experienced that feeling) even after my Customer was begging me to hang around another couple hours to help the day shift sort out the problem since I Identified it....Told them I'd come back later if they needed me but I was hungry and tired ( they called me in just as I went to bed the night before).
Wasn't long after that I was back at my office and heard about what happened in Manhattan when the phones started ringing off the hook with help needed and then hearing the Pentagon was on fire after some sort of explosion... My office is less than a mile away as the crow flies....I went up to the roof and could see it before the smoke column grew to more than 300 feet. Later from video I knew its where I had been working. I recognized two of the names as people I worked with....one was the guy who asked me to stay. To this day I don't know just how many in that specific office died beyond the two I knew. I spent the next month dealing mostly with issues resulting from the twin towers collapsing my entire work day. As did everyone else in my office. So its more than a little personal with me.

I was in class, a freshman in H.S. The class day went on until the attacks happened then everything just halted, our school started to let kids out early. My school is about 10 to 15 miles away from the city. Traffic was outrageous. I could see the burning towers and then shortly after the towers went down, the burning smell lingered on throughout the 5 boroughs. There were students that just found out right after the attack that they lost their parents, their families and friends in the attacks. Teachers had also gotten word of their losses. It was just a sad, sad tragedy. To this day I am still in disgust of this attack on out nation.

I was Camp Covington, Guam, at the end of my first deployment. Due to the time difference, the attack was during the middle of the night for me. I woke up hearing some commotion in the hallway and my roomate told me that terrorists had stolen a 747 and crashed it into the World Trade Center and, "There's basically nothing left". That didn't quite register in my half-asleep brain. I asked if we were at war. He said he didn't know. I went back to sleep. Some time later someone went through the barracks and told us to get dressed and get to the shop. On the way, we ran into our khakis (E7 and above) in PT gear. They proceeded to PT. We went to the shop. A while later things got somewhat sorted out and we went to threatcon delta. Then we went to breakfast and I saw the video for the first time on a tv in the chow hall. It was a weird day and a weird couple of weeks, as we were halfway through turning the site over to another construction battalion and we were delayed by about two weeks. Most of that time we sat around watching CNN.

I was in Wichita Falls, TX for Air Force tech school. Someone interrupted class to inform our instructor that a plane had hit a building in New York, and by the time we turned the TV on to see what was going on, the second one had hit. Eventually we were hurriedly marched back to the dorms and told to stay in our rooms. I remember being puzzled by the request that we keep our blinds pulled.
The other thing that stands out in my mind is the number of kids I overheard on the payphones down the hall pleading with girlfriends (presumably) and implying that they would soon be "off to war." I am sure they were trying to get laid. In any case, it was a strange time to be a military trainee!

I was at my Printing and Sign shop when I heard the news. A sad day indeed. Do you guys think that they might try something like this again on Sunday?

I think the odds are high....they actually do have a credible threat in NYC and Washington DC and measures are being taken. And they DID pull one off in Delhi India.

Do you think that Obama will take them down if they do?

Obama won't be the one to do it, he's just a stuffed shirt.....our intelligence services and Armed forces will be the ones that do everything. If it comes to that. Basically, He doesn't know anything until he's briefed by them about it. And they do brief him in a timely fashion.
