This is what Hoffa Meant!

Hoffa made his remark about ~ takin' out the SOBs.

Here some of his boy's show us how it's done.

Hundreds of angry longshoremen stormed ... cutting brake lines and dumping cargo.

Direct action is sometimes an effective way to protect one's private property--labor.

"Direct action", a euphemism for violence. Good job!

Why do you think direct action has to be violent? Odd interpretation. A sit down strike is direct action. It's not violent. Direct action might be violent--as when Rockefeller shot and killed striking workers at Ludlow. It also can be non-violent when he evicted the striking workers from company housing.

Union thugs are no different than punk gang members. As long as they outnumber their opponents by more than 10 to 1 they are badasses. As a non union worker on 2 gate jobs (they had to bring in skilled people to get the job done) I would get threatened and called a "scab" by the union "workers", but only when I was by myself. I would try to explain to them that if they did their job properly I wouldn't need to be there. If you are good at what you do you don't need the supposed "protection" of a union to ensure your continued employment. Otherwise you rule by intimidation and violence.

x2...My experiances with the Plumbers Union in Michigan, left no doubt in my mind that the Unions protect the weak.
It is for that very reason my brother and I struck out as Independants back in 2004.

Reform is needed but historically, unions have benefited most of us. 40 hour week for starters. The union thugs are hard to take, definitely, but barring restraint, I have little doubt that many or at least some capitalists would quickly revert to treating their workers similarly to the meanest treatment accorded American workers back in the day.

Full disclosure - I was in a union once, for about 6 months, when I worked as a machinist's helper at Marco Marine in Seattle. Our division built hydraulic pump drives. I don't recall it favorably or unfavorably.

My high school geometry teacher said something that has stuck with me for about 45 years: "Say what you mean and MEAN what you say." Too bad Hoffa didn't have her for geometry. No, wait a minute, he probably couldn't get past the prerequisite courses in order to take geometry.

Jimmy Hoffa is a pompous blowhard. And he is also ill informed if he thinks all of the teamsters would stand behind him after his public outburst of stupidity.

Fact is a large number of teamsters are not the left wing lunatics he has just shown everyone he is himself. And as a result there are a large block of members who will now vote for ANYONE who opposes him the next election for union leadership.
