Resume help
I need to redo my resume for an internship fair that is this Tuesday. I went to a workshop today for said fair and a lot of the recruiters mentioned that a reverse chronological resume is something they prefer.
Does anyone here know of a good template for word 2007? I found a few online but I don't know about them. As well as I can never set up the margins or indents properly :( |
Microsoft has plenty: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT010144894.aspx
Some are a bit busy. Look at the ones without graphics. There are few on that site from Monster, they're okay if very general. |
I thought it had a resume wizard built in. I know I used it once. *edit* turns out it did have it built in, in 2003. But Msoft "improved" it by removing the wizards. Glad I paid for that... Now they are templates that you have to get elsewhere. Go Microsoft!!

I don't know what sort of a job you are doing but have you ever considered getting professional help? Sure it cost a few bucks but IMO, it is worth the cost in terms of getting a job.

keep your format simple and concentrate on good content. I see a lot of resume's cross my desk and when I see flashy formats they are almost always short on good content pertaining to the sought after position

I meant lots of different fonts and bolds, styled backgrounds, shaded text boxes, colored windows etc. |

I'm almost done with it. I just need to stick a 1-2 sentence summary of myself to the top and it will be done |
You want clear...and easy to read at a glance....otherwise it goes in the trash first round of cuts. They are also all scanned with an OCR into a computer system, so its important to use the correct terminology and not have fancy fonts that might get scanned wrong. Keep it on white paper too.

I have a pack of resume paper and stick to size 12, Times New Roman.. Not that tahoma crap word has switched to as a default with office 07

Include pic of your hot girlfriend and you might get more attention :D

Don't get me started

Be prepared to explain any "holes" in your work history, if there are any.
A break in employment of more than a couple of months is a red flag to some recruiters... |
