bypassing Password in Windows XP

Is there a reliable way of doing this? The President of the Railroad has forgotten his password... need to get in there and change it so he can use the PC again..

Use the NT Offline Password Reset boot CD.

http://www.pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

Use it to clear the password, then re-set the password from windows.

Quite often people don't set the Administrator password... (leave it empty) and then the world is your oyster (or not if it was set)

That's when I break out the offline password reset tool. I keep a copy in my bag when I go to client's.

I'll try it some time this week, Hopefully it wont be to terrible to do,

compu_85 09-11-2011 10:36 PM

It's very easy, just boot up and clear the password on the account. The prompts are easy to follow.

Aquaticedge 09-11-2011 10:54 PM

Sweet. I need to keep this program, It's not the first PW recovery/clear I've been called on.

Thanks, I'll book mark it but I am going to try the first suggestion, It's quick enough to try without a lot of hassle.
