I hate when young people say "Back in the Day".

What gets me lately is "Having said that....."
I still cringe when I hear "awesome"

But back in the day, did they really say "back in the day"?

Why do people also say "I was raised......"?
Is it some sort of merit badge or something? It seems to imply that they cannot think for themselves and rely on what the last guy who raised them to tell them what to do. It sounds so lacking in thinking.

LIKE Apparently, every 20 year old who has a degree has graduated from the "Like U" where they teach you that you absolutely must insert the word "like" into every sentence..........preferably more than once. The use of the word is incessant..........sometimes they can state it 50 times in the span of five minutes. It's "like" a cancer on society.........those who cannot speak need the word "like" to make a point. "You know" is a very close second. |

"...uhm, like...you know."
No. I don't know. Uhmmmmmmmmm, uhmmmmmmmmm, uhmmmmmmmmm. Nope, you're still there...my mantra must be broke. Like? I like oxygen and food. Your conversation? I'll let someone else enjoy it because I'm not likin' it myself...

Well, I'm from "back in the day" and I don't remember ever hearing the expression until just a few years ago. I heard it from someone in their twenties, so it definitely drew a chuckle from me.

Yes! I had forgotten about that one! I guess I have forgotten because, unfortunately, I hear it way too much. The "You Know" is very interesting as well. If it is at the beginning of a sentence with a question mark following it before a thought provoking statement, it doesn't bother me. If on the other hand it is used as comma while searching for words it can really make someone sound dumb.
