Hope the passenger who snitched on those poor people feels good about him/her/itself. And that the storm troopers who attacked the plane shoot themselves in the 11th toe whilst performing a live fire exercise.

The f***ing American paranoia needs to stop, yesterday.

I don't really look at it as paranoia; I'd say it's mostly a side effect of the previous 9/11 attacks, and every other attempt by an extremist on this country since that attack. While I feel bad it has happened to someone innocent, I'd rather an over-reaction be a nuisance to 3 people's days than an attack that affects thousands.

I feel that the response was heavy police wise, if it takes 10 cops with assault rifles to take out 3 people on a plane, then they should probably practice more often.


Granted, I am exceedingly conservative.

The plane was already ON THE GROUND, and if the people were planning to perform a terrorist attack, they could have already done it while waiting for the police to board. The police response was heavy handed, and frankly completely retarded.

The police officials were the true terrorists here. No sympathy for them here.

This is all happening because Islam and Muslims have become the easiest targets in Americas highly polarised political environment.
Increasingly, politicians trying to court support from the far right have been able to attack Islam with impunity, raising suspicion that they are fear-mongers and anti-Islam bigots.

Not to worrie, someone supporting the far right is sure to come along any time now in this thread, and attack me personally for expressing my views..

I don't think there should be a huge lawsuit, but I do think that this was extremely unpleasant -- paranoia is bad, mmmm'kay? Think about this for a moment: if they had functional explosives, they would have likely already used them, without waiting for the police.

Gotcha! Wow one more time you really hit the nail on the head! Must have been SUPER unpleasant. I thought maybe the explosives they may have been carrying didn't work- but then you know they always work the first time, right? That shoe bomber was the exception, and well, that bomb in times square too. And those pesky police know that also, right? Paranoia is really bad- especially when there are no real bombers or terrorists with bad intentions- there aren't any are there, right? so who do you think is to blame for this: the guy that listened to the "be vigilant" speech, the arab americans for acting even a little suspicious flying on the highest alert day since 2001, the police who were grilled on terrorist countermeasures who go in with absolutely no definition other than what was told to them by non proifessionals, all of the redical islamists who decided to plan an attack on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, all of the american people who said dont let this happen again, or the radical islamists who attacked us 10 years ago and who have sworn to do it again. or should we be politically correct at the peril of all other common sense and get hit again

I thought it was typically Arabs / Muslims who commit these crimes on planes. Or are we too PC to say that? After the airborne horrors they created, the new vigilance that results comes in many forms, some of it heavy handed for sure. It will take 10 years at least before people let their guard down, and that's assuming they don't pull off any additional attacks in the mean time.

If they didn't work for 2.5 hours of flight time and the time waiting on the tarmac for the police, they were unlikely to work. Why storm the plane and say that anyone who looks up will be "taken care of" like some freakin' Mafia members?

Yeah, I know there are people with bad intentions. It's also somewhat our fault that those people hate us -- consider the continual American-led meddling in the Middle East since the 50s (before that, it was the British). If we want to be safe, we should butt the hell out of places where we're not wanted and improve our OWN country.

One more reason why I'm thinking that a nice, out of the way, non-Euro East European country would be the way to go in the future.

4000 people died on 9/11. 40,000 die in auto accidents every year. We'd be better off lowering the speed limit to 25 mph (hell, it might even starve them of their source of funds, since we'd save a lot of oil, and maybe not have to buy from the Middle East).

BTW- speaking of radical Islamists, what if the "attack" in the US was simply to drop a hint that one MAY happen, watch the American government chase it's own sorry arse, and watch people panic?

As far as terrorism, close the borders as much as possible, expel any non-citizens that could be seen as suspicious, but leave the fascist measures within the US out of this. They're un-American, and that's exactly what Bin Laden said he wanted -- for this country to destroy what's good about it, on its own, out of fear.
