Digital Watch repair?

Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of a quandary. I have a really rare, limited edition digital watch, that was/is as waterproof as the Titanic. Long story short, I wore it into a sauna, and the display goes berserk. I take it all apart when I get back to my dorm, and let it air dry in front of a fan. Cool beans, all is right in the world.

Months later, it goes berserk on me again. I take it apart, figuring theres something up with the connections, and I accidentally separated a reeeaaaaalllly fine wire from its soldered joint...

I am unable to solder, let alone something this precise, and was wondering if you guys know any places (I'm willing to ship it literally anywhere in the contiguous United States, as long as the repair is less than the watch is worth (~$350).

The watch time case is made by Seiko Instruments, but it's a one off deal, and I can't read the instructions as it's in Japanese kanji...

Any ideas? I looked up watch and circuit repair nearby, but I doubt they have the aptitude to help me out; everyone focuses on TV's...

Yeah, I know it's gaudy and funky, but my girlfriend had bought it for me after we watched the show through midterms, and she'd be hella pissed if I were to stop wearing it. She's unaware of it's non functioning state

Did you Google "EVA W01"? Looks like the mechanics were provided by Seiko. Hit Seiko's website and contact their repair center. I'm guessing that they will probably replace the internal components as one unit - if they have the components.

Plan B is eBay for an entire watch.

can you get a picture of the guts for me? I may be able to help you depending on the size of the said wire and where it mounts to

You could send it to Seiko's COSERV. Not sure how much they would get you for though.

I contacted their repair center, and they are unable to obtain the parts in North America... Same goes for ebay, they're all in Japan, and for prices in excess of $350 bucks, which I'm not committed to the watch enough to repair at that price...

I attached pics (unfortunately from my cell phone, I can't get the digital camera to focus on Macro?)

First is of the whole assembly, roughly 1"x 2".

Second is the coiled wire whos wire go from it to the spring that makes contact to the watch back to somehow illuminate the face? I dunno. Theres a sticker the spring touches on the watch back. Not sure if this is disconnected, but I am no fine electronics expert.

Third is the coil I separated from the solder. orientation as show, the bottom coil to the solder point between the coil and the spring.

The wire is SO thin, like, hair thin.

I'll try and get a camera to focus on it properly; I was surprised that there were exposed wires like that in an assembly meant to be taken apart for battery access. Granted, this is the first digital watch I've had aside from one's I've purchased from Burger King as a kid, so maybe thats the way they are.

Can I use this to connect a broken wire though? I don't know if the wire can be unspooled from the coil or not to reconnect a new section of wire.

While that in itself isn't a difficult task, she calls herself my 'future wife' when meeting people who know me, making meeting girls even as friends veeery difficult. But if I can't fix the watch... it's always an option
