Best anime I have ever seen!

Monster, its totally off the charts in regards to how good it is. I'm not even done yet and I'm tempted to do a 15 episode marathon to finish it!:D

Its geared towards adults and it shows.

Its about the "monster" Johan who was saved by a neurosurgeon. It takes place in the decade after Johan is saved and the characters gradualy try to unravel the past while they descend into various levels of insanity and addiction, or salvation.

Who will name the monster? Who will call his name if their is no one left?

Johan is an interesting character and based on probably the most sadistic of killers. He has absolutely not a care in the world for anyone's life, people are but ants for him to play with, and kill when he tires of them.

Is it online or on TV anywhere? I haven't followed a newer anime than Zeta Gundam or the Evangelion rebuilds :o

This was on Cartoon Network or Sci-Fi (I forget which) for a while very late at night.

I see too many episodes as I only caught it in the middle. It takes place in cold war West Germany if I remember correctly.

Netflix has all 75, or you can do it this way:
Watch Monster Online | Anime Episodes | Reviews | Images

It takes place in Germany and Eastern Europe, starts during the cold war but most of the series is in the late 90's right after. The cold war plays a bit part in it though.

Reawakening this old thread but yeah, just finished it and it was fricken fantastic! Literally edge of your seat can't wait for the next episode show!

Perfect setting and styling with a story set in mystery. Great characters and interaction to boot! There is a lot of historical intrigue as well.

Gotta give my favorite character to Inspector Lunge. One of my favorite scenes is his interview with the criminal psychologist who picks him apart :D

Haha no, just didn't get around to it until now. I had some free time this winter so I was finally able to sit down and go through it.

I'm a fan of old anime, 70s, 80s Doraemon, Ghibli, whatever my mother had her friends send over from her friends in Japan on Beta tapes.

I just find that there were better details and accurate representation of objects.

I find that a lot of newer stuff looks like it's been "pumped out" quickly.

Ha, I totally missed this the first time around. Is it still on Netflix?

Inspired by Putin? lol

I'll have to make time to watch it again, it really was one of the best series I have ever seen. Right up their with FMA.

It's been a while since I sat down with some good anime. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex was pretty decent, the story is easier to follow if you watch the movie version instead of the series version, but there is more detail in the series.
