found cash

Yesterday I was walking along and found a little roll of money. I won't say how much but it was more than 20 and less than 1000.

I am thinking of running an ad in the lost and found section of the paper to see if anybody can describe the amount and types of bills found.

Comments?

You're a good man Tom.

If the person can accurately describe the amount and denominations, then I'd give it to them.

However, an identifying clip or device to secure the roll..........if it exists..........would be superior for confirmation.

Be prepared for the onslaught of DB's that will surely follow such an offer.

I can't even imagine what would come out of the woodwork.

It's good to know there are still some honest folks out there, Tom. Kudos.

Don't donate it. You should try and find the rightful owner.

Then again it could be drug money.

Or rent money.

I agree, there is probably a 'rightful owner' who deserves it over the charity.

Are there any legal issues Tom?
Over here if you dont report the find to the police it is classed as theft.
Once handed in over here, if not claimed within 90 days, its yours to do what you want with it.

That's a good point, LayBack40.

It all depends on the law and the probability of finding the owner.

Perhaps your best route is to call the local police and ask them what the law is then go from there.

Same rule over here - that's how they can afford the strippers at the police mans' ball...

If it was local just keep your eyes and ears open for any postings in a grocery store or local paper. Tough call on running your own ad unless there is something to identify it with 100% accuracy.
