I got a euro 500SL at 16 from my grandmother. Not that unusual for cars to be given like that. I recall another story in The Star with a China Blue 1950s 300SL that was taken in a barn state like this and beautifully restored.
Personally, I'd rather see them get the car up and running and clean it up best they can. I bet it would polish nicely and look great. They're only original once. I'm sure it will just be another over-restored example that the owner will be scared to drive.

I'm definately with Tyler on this one. I would just renew belts, hoses and seals, clean it up and use it. I imagine it sold for millions being a competition alloy body model. The steel ones are about a half mil and up now for unrestored ones.
