Medical marijuana dispensaries harassed by Feds

Feds target California pot dispensaries for closure » Ventura County Star

Things like this actually make me HOPE that the Federal govno-mint goes bankrupt and fires 75% of its employees without pension. What a waste of time, money, and oxygen.

I could not agree more spdrun. What a waste of taxpayer resources.

The part that gets me is that it is obviously the will of the ppl of Calif (and other states that have passed it) to make MM legal and the federal gov't is NOT doing what the ppl want.

I did not read the story, but is it possible that some of the dispensaries are not following the law as dictated by the California State Congress?

Unless the Federal Government makes some SERIOUS and RADICAL budget cuts VERY soon, you will get your wish. That said, be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

It's easy to see how medical pot would be abused. Apparently a lot of people are involved and calling it the new gold rush. Seems it moved pretty far away from just helping sick people. That said, pot is a gateway drug and I have mixed feeling about making it legal. I have seen cases where just a few uses brought on severe depression.

When you see it's influence over someone you care about, its different than just reading about it and accepting the word of our nations's pot promoters as indisputable fact. Like alcohol, most people can handle it fine, but a certain percentage are affected in negative ways.

Or perhaps users started to be depressed and self-medicated with it to "fix" their oncoming depression. Correlation isn't causation, you know.

It should be legal (or at least unenforced) for sick, healthy, and dying alike.

I can't fathom the Obama administration permitting this now. It makes no sense.

My understanding is that any use of pot is illegal in the eyes of the Fed. They were just turning a blind eye to the CA dispensaries but that may have changed.

Clearly we need MORE dispensaries to overwhelm the resources of the Fed swine.

Hey everybody should have access, that will solve everything. Personally I can't stand the smell of the stuff, it reminds me of dysfunctional 1970's America. Frizzy hair, leisure suits, really *****ty cars.

The only reason its not legal is that there is a lot of $$$$$ to be made from its prohibition. The DEA is a corporation. Busting pot growers and distributors while seizing their money and assets is good business for them. If it weren't they wouldn't give two ****s about it.

The whole "gateway drug" rhetoric is absolute BULL****. The only thing making it a gateway is the lies you tell your children about it. Kids aren't stupid and after they figure out they were lied to about pot, the truth you were telling them about pills, meth, crack and the like becomes worthless.

Medical Marijuana is a subject that I care about. A person very close to me was able to quit Dilaudid (essentially prescription heroin) due to MMJ. That said, I support any person's decision to use it recreationally as well. It is a safer alternative to alcohol. Drinking makes people aggressive and violent. Pot turns people into quiet contented consumers. Its baffling that the government doesn't already secretly dose the entire population.

I just happened to watch a documentary today on drugs. The DEA guy interviewed said they collect about a billion dollars in cash and other assets through seizures each year. However, they said there are about 17 million pot smokers in the U.S. Assuming an average use of an ounce a month (wild guess on my part) that means 204 million ounces are used in the country annually. If we legalized it and taxed it at fifty bucks an ounce, which I think is quite doable, that would generate gross revenue of 10.2 billion dollars per year. It would also save the costs of arresting, prosecuting, and incarcerating smokers and their dealers. I'm not sure if legalizing the hard drugs is a good idea, but I can't think of any reason to keep pot illegal.
