Useless Posts

I sense some members here are mad or upset at some changes and are making posts that seem to reflect that.

As a member that has been here for 6 years (the 10th was my 6th year) I can say that these posts are childish and unnecessary. I have not had any major issue with Pelican Parts taking over and have no real complaints. Not being able to reply to threads in the Cars section is most likely a good idea and I have not checked in the parts section.

I also noticed the forum logo up to is now sporting "a division of Pelican Parts".. That's different and will take some getting used to.

But other than that I just want to say that these posts are ridiculous and just childish. You know who you are and you should realize that you are doing nothing good for this great forum.

Well said.

Totally agree with you, I'm not sure it has to do with the whole PelicanParts takeover (though obviously I could be wrong), but rather tempers going over the boiling point on some threads. Either way, not sure why OD is suddenly inundated with truly pointless threads.

Agreed.

"Useless Posts" is that irony or is it redundancy? tautology?

Could you provide an example and refute the post so that others can see exactly what is so childish and unnecessary? Could it be that this is just your opinion, and if so do you understand the saying about opinions and excuses? Others may have other opinions and calling their opinions childish and unnecessary is, well, childish itself. However, if you provide concrete examples of why you believe they are childish then others can see what you are talking about. Respectfully; from a 7+ year member.

uh-- the delite function has been removed too--which is not functional.

Looks like we can't lock our own threads anymore either.

We currently have threads in OD that are titled "RETARTED", and "IDIOT" that go to wikipedia for definitions. Threads that have been made to lure trolls from both sides of the fence to just argue nonsense. A certain someones post in the car section ranting on changes and such. Possibly this post because this thread will spiral into a thread about proper drywall mounting technique and mudding at some point!

I thought someone's account got compromised.

tjts1 10-11-2011 04:59 PM

Maybe 'useless threads' would help MTU better understand what we're talking about. These don't represent any opinion or point of view. Just noise to take up space on the screen. I find it trouble that many of these were posted by a moderator.

TheDon 10-11-2011 05:03 PM

I would also wish politic based threads would go away. They always seem to cause posters to go off on one another.

And I'd like a pony.

I'm not 100% sure of what WHunter's point was with those threads, but whatever that point is, I'm pretty sure you missed it. WHunter does not have a track record of posting inflammatory threads.
