US Military Advisors Being Sent to Uganda
President Barack Obama said on Friday he was sending about 100 U.S. military advisers to Uganda to support central African allies pursuing Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord's Resistance Army, and other rebel commanders.
"I have authorized a small number of combat-equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield," Obama said a letter to Congress. But he asserted that U.S. forces "will only be providing information, advice and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense." |

There is not one stinking thing in that entire country worth the life of one US soldier...Why!

I believe that the vast majority of Uganda's population self identifies as "Christian" with the Catholics being the largest group. The LRA's achievements to date might not not be what anyone considers the actions of a "Christian Army." Recall that this is the nation that earlier wanted to criminalize homosexuality, but has since put the bill on hold.

And to think it was only a few years ago that voice of the liberal/progressive/wacko chourus was loud and united against involvement in civil warfare such as in Iraq, my how times have changed! Libyan rebels good Dear Leader commits US to their victory, Ugandan rebels bad Dear Leader commits US to their defeat, US involvement in civil warfare in Iraq treason. |

You are correct. They are being called advisers.
Stop me if you've seen this before...advisers--then advisers get fired upon and they return fire, then troops are needed to protect the advisers--and so it goes. I think I've seen this movie before.

You may have failied to mention other procedures used by past presidents, to use covert ops and wage a secret war in other countries. Frankly, the transparency is refreshing, no?
