Flu Shot Reaction

So I had a flu shot at work. About an hour later, a co-worker said I looked flushed. Then I felt nauseous and really tired.

Went home sick.

Anyone experience this?

Got a few friends in the medical field. Two got pretty sick after the shot. Of course can not be 100% sure it was the shot, but it seemed most likely. I though the synthetic shots were suppose to eliminate this from happening.

I had to get a whole bunch of vaccines in a short period of time a few years back, 2007. I spent a day or so in bed, out of it. Felt like I had fever - maybe I did, don't remember.

I shouldn't have bothered. I only get a cold once a year, haven't had the flu since I was in grade school.

Why would a young guy take a flew shot? That stuff doesn't belong in your body.

Coincidence. All you'll find on the internets is conspiracy theory. Be well. Be happy. Don't worry.

I've felt pretty bad after flu shots before...I don't get them now, I'd rather take the chance that I'll get the flu. My father was the same way, used to get really sick after getting a flu shot. I have heard of the GBS risk but I think you can get that from the regular flu as well.

The shot doesn't bother me. The mist makes me feel not so great for about a day after. Unfortunately, the military doesn't give me the choice of which one I get.

Sounds like your employer needs a kick in the jaw. And yes, I have a authority problem and am proud of it Fortunately, I have enough money and brains to stay freelance so I don't have to deal with f***ing sh** of that type.

this "flu shot" scam goes back to the 70's, when the government inoculated 48 million people against "swine flu". lots of folks got guillian barre syndrome.

all these vaccine drives seem rather ineffective, as there are so many viruses.

does make some vaccine makers a lot of money, though.

i wouldn't do it, though i'm not anti-vaccine. (as long as the childhood ones are not live virus, but the killed or weakened ones, which require more innoculations, but lessen the abuse of the immune system. )

p.s. i am not a scientist, nor do i play one on t.v.

Less than 50 cases is "lots of folks" unless you count the number immunized in 1976.

From the CDC:

In 1976 there was a small increased risk of GBS following vaccination with an influenza vaccine made to protect against a swine flu virus. The increased risk was approximately 1 additional case of GBS per 100,000 people who got the swine flu vaccine. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) conducted a thorough scientific review of this issue in 2003 and concluded that people who received the 1976 swine influenza vaccine had an increased risk for developing GBS. Scientists have multiple theories on why this increased risk may have occurred, but the exact reason for this association remains unknown.

If your lifestyle puts you in contact with a lot of folks, including friend or family with compromised immune systems (cancer patients, elderly, infirm) you should consider the annual flu shot.
