Yep, that star on his shirt will certainly get Daimler Benz in a tizzy. If they refuse to allow Mercedesshop to use the name Mercedesshop, they surely won't allow their logo in a thread anywhere.

My buddy was a mechanic at a Mercedes dealership wearing the same shirt: they don't repair parts they just replace parts 'till the problem is gone.

In the days when I was less mechanical savvy he would "help" me fixing my 300CD: it would cost a fortune. Replacing 'till the problem gone seems to be their motto.

Yup, if I would have gone to the dealership for the Check Engine light on the E420, it would have cost $180 for the diagnostic, $90 labor to inspect tank ventilation system and replace the gas cap, and $15 for the cap.

$285.00 for above vs $15.00 for borrowing a buddies scanner, and buying a new cap. I'm spit-balling numbers in the first paragraph but don't think I'm too far off.
