I first heard about that on NPR I think, or it might have been C-Span, can't remember which now, but the guy wrote a book about it called , wait for it... "Archimedes Palimpsest" which I immediately went out and bought. Fascinating stuff indeed.

That was a pretty neat article. (though they spelled combinatorics without the B) I had to look up the meaning of palimpset.

On a slightly related note, a friend of mine discovered a hitherto unknown piece of music from th 19th century. Not as big a find but still significant.
