More snow

#%&$ing snow! Hunkering down for a rather sudden blizzard. Glad I caught the weather report or I would have been stranded up in CT, had to drive back down late tonight. I'll be posting pictures as it comes

I stopped doing 'Snow' a few years ago. Being brought up in Michigan left a bad taste in my mouth.
My cureent position is approx. 1 degree above the equator, which means a balmy, Tropical climate that have 2 'seasons' - Wet- Hot...Hot-Wetter...Did I mention plenty of rain?

Wuss.

I suppose there's a chance that their forecast is correct. Bring it! The plow is on, the snowblowers are gassed up, I've got a fresh pouch of Backwoods "cigars"...

After the first one is done, my enthusiasm begins to pale.

We've already had over 30" of snow fall this month. There is a 2 foot thick layer of snow on our roof insulating our house. Our mailbox is buried. The snowbanks on our street are over five feet high. I'm proud to have shoveled it all by hand even though we have a snowblower. Love it!

I hope this year's weather serves as a warning to all wimpy people. STAY OUT OF MY STATE!

I have been unsuccessful at finding a snow blower ( or "thrower" in Cub parlance), for my 782 Cub Cadet. I will now pay for that failure.
sigh.

Wonder if the snow is getting to be too much for our roofs? I see some people in my neighborhood have shoveled their roofs, but I know that can cause some serious problems too. Others will hammer away at the ice! I think it might be better to just let it be.

I think for the most part homes are fine. Haven't heard about any houses collapsing yet.

The part you need to worry about is the freeze thaw cycle which causes ice dams. I'm already seeing plenty of those.

My musician son has a 10 day gig coming up with the Syracuse Symphony. They already have 6 feet of snow on the ground. He is hoping ( unrealistically) for a call that they have to cancel the series due to the snow, but they still have to pay him.

sigh.
Thats why I rebuilt my old antique Simplicity rider, I have the snow head for it.
Not only does it move lots of snow, I can do the drive a lot quick vs using the little 2 cycle (which does work well).
