One of my favorite years growing up, probably as I was too young to appreciate the issues our country was facing at the time. I was not too young to appreciate the music, however, and enjoyed the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and a somewhat unusual choice for a seven/eight-year-old, Buffalo Springfield, an outlandish and outlandishly-talented short-lived supergroup. I was wandering through YouTube this evening and found this gem:

Ahhh yes. The year I graduated from HS. There was some great music that year (and some stinkers you never hear any more).

I enjoy the fact that some of that music still sounds good to my children and a lot of it still sounds good to me.

Viet Nam was hanging over the heads of all of us during that year and the following five years I was in college. It was a powerful motivator to keep my grades up.

Buffalo Springfield had a strong war protest song "for what its worth" that was played on the Smothers Brothers comedy hour and was considered very very over the line. I think it may have been a factor in their show being cancelled by the network.

1967...my first year on the big city police department. Just back from 'Nam. Very troubled times with much more ahead. The girls were loosened up, though. Did not like the British invasion music.... Four Tops, O'Jays, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Smokey and the Miracles, James Brown, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Temptations...THAT'S music!!!!

I was ten in '67, but remember the smell of change in the air.... some of my fave music is from those days..

I still play their music, in fact, there are several tracks on my iPod I listen too on long motorcycle rides. Stephen Stills is, IMO, one of the greatest guitarists who ever existed, and his work with Buffalo Springfield was when he was at the top of his game.

I was 13 in 1967. What an incredible year for music. In those days, my sound system consisted of a 9-volt portable AM radio, and it seems in many ways the music sounded more fantastic then than it does now on my current Kplisch 7.1 system.

here, I have to agree with you. I still listen to monoral recordings from that era on my old Technics turntable and it sounds far better than the digital remasters

1967 - My dad was doing a tour in Vietnam, and the rest of the family lived near the military base in Italy.

We could get our hands on 45 rpm records of the latest hits like these, but they had import labels. I still have a Beatles "She Loves You" with an italian label on it.

Great year for me. Separated from active duty USS America, Portsmouth VA, November 1967. "Haze gray & underway" no more!
Had some hectic days a few months earlier on the fringe of the Six Day War.

Well, now you went and reminded me why 1967 was also a really bad year. The kid who lived a few houses down that I grew up with, his father was killed in Nam in 1967. It was an event that has shaped much of my current world view, and the point where I think my childhood ended and the real world intruded.

I was a big fan too. "For What It's Worth" could have been written last week.

I didn't exist in 1967, but I do like the music and the cars from that era. The first album (tape actually) I ever bought was Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced? which I believe was first released in 1967.

I was young enough not to have noticed most of the musical and fashion atrocities that happened in the 80's. I started paying attention around the time Nirvana first got famous. Incidentally, I'm wearing flannel right now.
