Thumbs down One of Atlanta's finest!.....

Take a look at this absolute abomination! I spotted it the other day at a used car dealership north of Atlanta, GA. My poor girlfriend has to pass by this horrible creature every day on her way to work!

Only in America....Geez! Sacrilege.

Mr. Daimler and Mr. Benz are rolling in their graves! Would I be a bad person if I punched the owner who did this in the face? hahaha....

I have seen this thing posted somewhere else, a little hard to forget! Only appropriate to see it parked at the Waffle House! lol

What do you suppose it cost to "transform" this creature to its current state?

Uhhhhh, yeah... I'm *trying* to not lose my supper.

At least it *looks* better than the Yugo/jeep thing that I stumbled across on ebay.

Mike,

You said that you spotted this thing at a used car dealership, just out of curiosity, do you know what the asking price for it is? I just can't help but wonder.

WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DO SUCH A THING!!!!!!!

That is just stupid. I can't believe there are people out there that think its cool. Just can't stop shaking my head.

Boy would I love to see the owner in this car. I would look at him.....point at him and start laughing hysterically until I fell to the floor. If he didn't feel bad after that I would certainly make some appropriate comments making sure he knew what a disgrace this is.

Ali,

No, I didn't talk to the dealer...I didn't want him to even THINK I was interested in buying that hideous thing! hahaha....

It had a window sticker, but no price. The sticker said:

Make--Chevrolet
Model--Benz
Year--1972

It had the mileage too, but I forget what it was. There was a Hurst lever for engaging the 4-wheel drive, I presume, mounted on the pass. side of the driveshaft tunnel, right beside the gear shifter. Yuck! I tried to get a picture of that thru the window, but there was too much glare and reflection.

Looks like it has a Chevy 350cu.in. small block. Look at how they had to relocate the steering box to fit the engine in!!!!!!

Shot a link to my friend and here's his educated response

He used to own a ford F250 with 42's so you can understand his background.

huh-HA!

It looks like he's got 38 (or maybe 35) inch Gateway Gumbo Monster Mudders (that's right, that is the name of those tires, Gateway makes them and they are very expensive, for 38x15.50 they run about $275 a pop)...

I can see he has completely gutted the MB suspension in favor of somehting a little beefier, trading off ride quality for sheer brawn. The front end is Ford, a Dana 44 axle (1/2 ton) and the rear axle looks like a Dana 44 out of a Ford or Dodge. What is my point? I'll bet he did it the easy way...

He found a nice car body that needed painting, that's wheel wells lined up exactly with the axles on a short bed, std cab Ford F-150, and removed the body, slapped it on the Ford frame! Then hooked up the MB sterring, and electrical and away we go! Oh yeah, and put a fresh coat of yellow #5 on it.

You have to admit the body is clean and straight!

I'll bet you could take all kinds of money off unsuspecting chaps at the local watering holes..."I'll bet you $100 my mercedes can drive over your BMW"...or if in the country: "I'll bet you $100 my Mercedes can climb any hill your Jeep can"
