that's good to know....at least the fiction might keep folks off track about the real story

They speak: JSOC say's Not true.

Of course. Would they back a free lancer in opposition to the official story? Noy likely under any circumstances but especially if the CinC might be undermined by their silence or acquiescence.

But the ancillary information about the author in that linked piece is really damning. If true, he doesn't fact-check is books and appears to be a serial liar. So even if he got this one exactly right (which I doubt), he has no credibility.

Concernign Opsec, one of my friends was a WO5 army pilot for 34 years. After the Bin laden raid I asked if he'd ever seen or heard of that downed helicopter. He said, "Funny thing about that. When I saw the tail section I called some of my retired buddies and none of us admitted to ever seeing anything like it." Even retirees respect OpSec.

Sorry....do you mean to say the helicopter was something unknown previously?

I am leaping ahead on this....if it is something unseen before I am guessing it was made to be extra quiet. Perhaps that contributed to the crash. The official explanation of the crash did not make much sense to me (but what do I know about helicopters?)

Apparently is was a stealthed version of a blackhawk. My pilot buddy said it looked to him like the ground effect prop wash off the surrounding cinderblock wall might have caused the craft to -- he had a name for a positive feedback between the collector and the ground effect (if I understood him correctly) that caused the helicopter to pitch rather than land and the pilot over-compensated. I probably f-d that all up! Is there a helicopter pilot in the house?

I've only flown basic RC Helis. Not very good. Possibly the wall caused the prop wash back into the blades sooner. This would effect the lift of the rotors. With a heli, you have to give more power or move out of the prop wash. We did get to see the rotor blades or what devices muffled or canceled out their sounds. They might have effected the rotors lift capabilities. Also, real helis and higher end RC Helis have collective pitch (adjustable). The unexpected back wash from the wall, possibly the pilot couldn't adjust the pitch of the blades soon enough or enough by any means. No expert here, but its hard to judge or second guess. Possibly nothing the guy could do. Also with Helis, you have to dip the nose in, then pop it up to land. I haven't gotten there with the RC stuff.
