My son had Straight Talk for a while. It's a special arrangement between WalMart and Tracfone. Tracfone uses Verison's network. I'm almost never without a signal. The only issue with ST was the minutes don't roll over. Use em or lose em.

Verizon Sucks

My company Blackberry is Verizon and we have a corporate account for 50 of them. Verizon basically acts like we work for them. They just "upgraded" us to new BB's and they shipped us refurbed 9300's not the 9700's we were supposed to get.
We sent them back and now they are getting pissy about the whole thing. I kept my 8330 since I have seen the 9300 and 9700 break easier then an egg on the sidewalk while I can pistolwhip a junkie with my 8330 and still call 911 afterwards.

We pay for full attachment service (MS Office/Adobe) but they always seem to "disconnect" a few people per month.

We have been talking to ATT about Android phones.

How do they compare to the Blackberry? And I don't mean playing see how my phone cqam make me look like a turd like the 3 *******s in the TV commercial.

We don't need Brostash capability.

Do Not Kid Yourself

ALL RF (Cellphone) carriers in the U.S. SUCK!

A.T.T. is no better than "V",Sprint,"T", Etc.,Etc.,Etc.

People on the West coast [CONUS] swear ATT IS Beelzebub.

Start out Ranting and Raving to their top brass @ Home and escalate from there.

I don't know whether to give ANY credence to the Tale that the below
Carbon Based Life Form ,who was in Europe at the time, had 50 Pizzas
delivered to his residence for a Party he knew nothing about...

well, since my t mobile contract finished last month, i'm a free agent who continues with them for the moment , even though i went through two sim cards in the last week -free, thank fully - and bought their $24 phone to tide me over - i am more confused than before i started reading this thread. the thing is, i need to keep my phone number, for business, and i need a phone with a good camera, internet, lots of texts and 500 minutes of voice per month.

android? (crap, i've heard)
blackberry? (also crap, and soon to be oudated?)
i phone ? (pricey, fragile, still no way to access sim card, battery?)

any answers?

(t mobile is $80 a month for unlimited talk and text - i'm a "valued, longtime customer"... or so they tell me)

Go and get yourself Nokia E7, best of both worlds, qwerty keyboard and 4 inches touch screen. Free update from Nokia site to Symbian Anna software and you are cruising. A lot of people would say that Symbian is old and on the way out system, but the truth is that it is the most stable and reliable system on the market, period. People talking about not having enough applications for the system.....on OVI web site there are more than 10 000 application and 90% of them are free to download.
The quality of Nokia is unparalleled, everyone knows that. E7 is Finland made not Made in China
Nokia Ovi maps are better than Garmin and the SatNav is fantastic with voice guidance, you can download ANY MAP of ANY COUNTRY YOU WANT for free from Nokia for LIFE. They updating them every 3 months. If you don't wanna go that high tech get yourself E71, had one for 4 years and never ever had a single issue with it. Still hold battery for 3 days with average use after 4 years.
Once again the build quality of Nokia is way superior to any other phone on the market, this is my opinion so if someone is going to argue, please keep it to yourself.

$25/mo 300 minutes, unlimited data and txt, no contract. What more do you need? Love my optimus V.
We have this deal too, and we're pretty happy about it, except VM/Sprint data sometimes is crappy. Wife uses this. Prepaid is the way to go.

There's a new prepaid T-mobile/Walmart 4G plan out that is $30/mo, 5GB 4G data (then throttled), but only 100 minutes of talk. Thinking about that, but we would have to try to do VOIP to be able to live with 100 minutes. And the cloud of the AT&T merger hangs heavily over this deal.

My daughter and I who only really need phones for emergencies have been using ancient Motorola Q Winmo phones ($10 on ebay) on Page Plus. Their minimum service only costs $30/year (100 min/4 months/ $10) and the kicker is these phones have free, unlimited but SLOW (dialup speed- 14.4k) internet . Yup, pageplus is a Verizon reseller and for some reason, their contract with Verizon allows them to pass through the old Quick2Net (Qnc) and if you can find a phone that uses qnc data (these are mostly ca. 2003-2006) you can get it to work and have data, gratis (IF it's still available in your area) .

And it works just great with Opera mini for non-graphic uses such as email, this forum, even Google maps if you aren't in a big hurry. You can setup Active Sync and have Gmail brought over to your phone as needed.

It's a very fitting sort of phone to toss in the cubbybox of your 240D, should you ever need it to call for a tow.

What are you trying to hide? Should we alert the authorities?

This is why you buying your own phone, unrestricted and unlocked and with a FREE downloaded software you having the ability to disable or enable the GPS transmitter at YOUR will not at the will of your cell carrier

Yeah, you're right. I didn't think of that. I like mine rolling over because I'm a light user. At ten dollars a month I have about 400 units all the time. Don't need or want the expense of a new card monthly.
