Sprint customers be aware.
Just got nipped with $70. of reconnect charges for 2 months ,it happens on occasion that Ill pay my cell bill late in a 2 month of the billing ,I would get hit with a $15 reconnect charge .Six weeks ago I updated my phone and paid my bill ,walked into the Sprint store to pay the 2 months payment and had a balanced owed of $275 .It used to be $125 for 2 months and a late fee. They explained that you pay your month of billing in advance ,plus the 2 reconnect fees.I just signed a 2 yr and cant leave ,man I hate contracts.

I've been a loyal Sprint customer for as long as I've had a cell phone. My relationship with Sprint goes back to the days of the Motorola Star Tac. Anybody remember those? I've never complained about Sprint, actually been pretty positive about them all that time. I have been waiting patiently for them to finally get the I Phone.
The last few months they have repeatedly changed my bill without justification. When I call to get them correct it, they gave me the run around initially, then after an hour or so on the phone with "supervisors," I twice go them to agree to giving me a discount to BELOW what I was supposed to be paying. Last month my bill went up again, again without justification. Only this time I was told to pay it or go somewhere else. Now, that I think about it, Sprint's data service sucks. I never come close to using the time I pay for, half the features on my phone don't really work. So, I am taking the advice and the $1500 a year I've been giving them and going to AT&T. They might suck and they may treat me like crap, too, but they're going to get a chance. Sprint has made it clear they no longer value me as a customer. I hope Sprint chokes on all those goddamned I PHones Apple made them buy . . . . I have lots of Apple stock. Ha ha ha!

I've been with T-Mobile since I came over to the States...this is 8 years as from November 1st. Never had a single issue and now I am on $50 bucks a month with 1500 minutes unlimited text including MMS and 2GB data...more than enough to run my Nokia Sat Nav (OVI maps) and check my e-mails all day long on the go. The funny thing is that my Nokia Sat Nav is better than my Garmin
I have to point out that this is the price I pay for service alone, no cellphone included in the deal. I own my Nokia E7.

I go without contract.
Airfire: $35/month plus sales tax = unlimited data, talk, text. This is great for local service, but I often travel and the phone will not work. So... Straighttalk: $45/month plus sales tax = unlimited 3G data, talk, text. This is a nationwide plan. Its actually on the ATT network if you buy a Nokia E71. And the best part, the SIM card can be put into an iPhone and the iPhone will work fine with just a couple quick settings. Not sure about visual voicemail though, that may not work. But its the cheapest way to get an iPhone on ATT and be unlimited!

Only downside is that being CDMA only, thing is useless in way too much of the not USofA world (unless I can snag free wifi, and run a VOiP app to talk via wireless..... not working well enough/consistently enough to be worth the effort. Yet. I do believe we'll evolve towards more wifi talk. This looks quite interesting: $19 per month, unlimited talk/text/data. Coupons out there to get the Optimus for $99, no contract. Gotta have wireless, will default to wireless whenever it is available, will use mobile network when it isn't.

Verizon has been pretty good to me, $78 a month for 900 minutes and 500 text's.
I'm going to get an Iphone when my contract goes up, those run about $100ish a month.

$79 a month for the iphone plan, 500 minutes unlimited text and 2gb data. Annoyingly high even with an employer's discount but I'm one of those young text-savvy rascals (NOT on the road though) and use the data constantly. I will probably switch to an android phone in a few weeks when my contract is up. Not too impressed with my iPhone, it runs like crap.

I'm sure there must be a reason why people get suckered into contracts. "Free" or cheap upgraded snazzy phones maybe. i know i'll never have one. We do prepaid all the way. The wife and son have android smart phones that they paid a hundred or so for, and T Mobile prepaid. They spend 30 bucks a month for unlimited texting and a few hundred minutes of voice. They mostly text. My tracfone cost 20 bucks and I buy 10 dollars worth of minutes a month as I get double minutes with the phone I bought. My phone drops far fewer calls than their more intelligent phones do. The three of us together only spend 70 dollars a month and can tell our phone providers to pound sand any time we want. Daughters have contracts I think but they are iPhone nuts and make lots of money and pay their own way so I don't give a crap.
It seems to me, that if you can't afford to buy the spiffy phone you want with cash, you darn sure can't afford the contract that will give it to you for little or nothing.
