anybody besides me annoyed with all the firefox updates?
 

it went from 3.something to 6 in like a month, then 6.something over and over, then 7 now it's griping for v.8... I'm in IT, and I understand the need for version updates to keep up with security and new features, but come on! how many versions do we need? updates yes, but NEW versions all the time?

That's part of the current strategy with Firefox.

I made the jump a while back from 3.something to 7, but I'll hold off on moving to 8 until a couple of my favorite add-ons have a chance to catch up with it.

I have Firefox on my computer to use to watch videos when my new improved 64 bit computer won't play them (which it won't about half the time (?!)). If I could get an update that would allow me to set the screen enlargement to 150% w/o having to reset it at every new page, I'd sit still for that one. Boggles the mind. Can it be that hard? Explorer is able to pull it off.

The new Firefox version downloaded itself on my computer this am.

The first PDF I tried to retrieve afterward failed a few times and crashed my computer. I gave up and downloaded it in seconds on Internet Explorer.

Not endorsing IE, but what's up with that?

Yeah, you know, the old versions keep working even if you don't update...

People still use firefox?

Firefox 3.0.8 in my case running on Linux too. Haven't bothered with IE in ages. Or windows for that matter if I can help it. Though to be honest I'm contemplating getting a PC with windows purely for use as a skype phone.

Doesn't bother me much - all the updates install automatically, I haven't had any issues with them, and it's still the best browser around. I could use Chrome, but I care too much about proper page rendering and the plugins I use.

I got tired of Firefox's crap and went with Chrome.

Firefox perpetually hangs and nothing they suggest will stop it.

Chrome never hangs and it's fast as hell.

Same thing here. I have been using Firefox for years now but it start to behave really weird these days; it doesn't let me log in to a a lot of sites like facebook and my bank.

Chrome is a pretty good replacement, it still lets me use ad-blocker.

I too was (past tense) a long time Firefox user; one of the things I liked about it were a few of the plug-ins, particularly ad-block plus to speed up browsing.

As Firefox began to bug me more and more earlier this year, with some instability in addition to the relentless flood of patches and upgrades, Chrome released a stable and secure version...and the ad-block folks made a plug-in for it.

Then the certificate hack-theft occurred, and I tested them side by side on a few ssl sites. Chrome caught a few...Firefox passed all of them.

I still use Firefox for a couple of things, like youtube. But Chrome has replaced it as my primary browser.
