Yesterday's Elections Results

Not a Banner Year for Tea Party

Voters defeated the MS "personhood" amendment
Ohio voters support public unions
Voters recall elected officials in Michigan and Arizona.

The lessons of Election 2011 may be greater for the Republican Party and its wing of tea party conservatives than for Democrats, says Mr. Abramowitz. "Ultimately, these results don't tell us very much," he says, "but there is a hint here that if the Republicans nominate a [presidential] candidate seen as too extreme, too far to the right, that could be damaging."

Republicans cleaned up in Virginia. They might end up in control of the governor's office and both houses of our legislature. Our only hope is a Senate race that is going to a recount. If the Democrat can pull out that one, then we will retain a 1-vote majority in the Senate. Otherwise, the Senate will be evenly spit, with the GOP Lt. Governor casting the tie breakers. The nine-member Board of Supervisors in my county is now 100% GOP. Last time they controlled the Board they screwed it up pretty good and got thrown out at the next election.

The GOP in our state is flaky on social issues, which is bad enough, but my main problem with them is that they are so irresponsible on fiscal matters. The only time Virginia has not been at or near the very top of the list of well-managed states is when the GOP was in control.

You're exactly right! Socialism is consuming the country. That IS what you want isn't it?

According to this article even the National Right to Life Org and the Catholic Bishop of MS did not support the initiative. Thankfully it did not pass (by a wide margin 58% to 42) and women still have a little control over their own body when it comes to reproduction.

The recall election in Arizona of Russell Pearce, was fascinating to watch. As the president of the State's senate, he was arguably the most powerful legislator in the state and the architect of the tough and controversial immigration law known as SB1070. The campaign included an apparent "shill" candidate, a Hispanic woman with no poltical experience or campaign organization, who dropped out of the race after name made it onto printed ballots.

Except the mother who apparently YOU can't trust. Did you parental trust issues start at a young age?

Well no, my Mother OBVIOUSLY did not elect to abort me. It appears that many Mothers are not willing to protect their unborn children evidenced by the fact that they are so quick to abort them.

Is this meant as a double entendre or just sarcasm.

Actually a very sad story; not worthy of ridicule.
Penn State, and Joe P. had a long time reputation for honesty and integrity, and instilling those values into their students.

This failing will haunt them and their alumni for a while.
Another example of " The cover up is ALWAYS worse than the original crime." You'd think we would have learned that by now.
Last night, the Board of Trustees did the only thing they could--they fired Joe P and the University President.
The irony is, of course, that that trying to protect the reputation will ultimately destroy that reputation--or, rather, substitute a different reputation in place of the one desired.
