Calling all savy internet people
I've decided to go ahead and replace the old air/heat unit at my Printing and Sign shop. I would like a portable ac/heat unit. At least 10,000 cool and heat btu's. Any help would be appreciated. :D:D:D

What is this, like a window A/C unit? Is it 220V?

Where do savvy internet skills come into play here?

How big is the shop? An external heat pump unit will be far more efficient than anything you can get that is "portable" and so long as you have gas and electric to it you can hook it up yourself. Just install a piece of duct into the building, insulate it outside, and you're good, though you'll want a good deflector inside to avoid "jetwash". :D :D

Be aware that a free standing portable AC unit sucks a lot of air out of the room as it operates, so it ends up putting a higher load on the system.

Generally they have a hose to send the hot air outside... but that hot air getting pumped out has to be replaced by something ;)

Very true, we have some of them at work, the ones that carry the hot air out work great. The others are a waste of time, one end puts out cold air the other end heats up the room :D

The new unit is in and the exhaust vents are installed. The shop is warm. The only problem I encountered was that the floors were 4 inches thick. Since I didn't have a sawsall, I used a jigsaw and a home made chisel. I love my heat. :D
