Craig's list problem
I have a number of ads in craigs list. I received an email from them a few days ago saying they had locked my account and it could be any of several reasons which they listed. In perusing the list I cannot see how I violated any of the things they listed.
Their email said to follow a link to restore my account but it did not work. I tried to respond to the email but it will not allow a response. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Can anybody give me a tip? |
F*** 'em (and their Fleabay management) with a sharp stick, and create an account with a different verified phone # if they need one. Google Voice, Vonage, friend's #, payphone, prepaid SIM. Be creative.

Was there any reason to believe that this was a legitimate message from Craigslist? As opposed to, say, a phishing e-mail?

Maybe you have upset some one.

Maybe you have too many infractions!!
|
Get a new email address.
|
I have another email address i can use. But if I don't know what triggered this lock out I will probably run into it again.
Does anybody know how to have an actual interchange with a human being or a way to communicate by email with them? |

Probably there are enough people on your side of the pond that you should be thinking of. ;) How many complaints does it take on CL to get some one their marching orders?? |

You have to start over, and come back to the account months later. |

My experience is that you meet the flakiest people and get the flakiest service with craigslist. But the price is right and you do get results. The freak show is free entertainment.
Let us know how you resolve this, we are all in the same boat on this one. One thing I saw was that a group of scammers love prices around $2700 so if you try to legitimately sell something around that price you get flagged incessantly. |
Twitchkitty,
One thing I saw was that a group of scammers love prices around $2700 so if you try to legitimately sell something around that price you get flagged incessantly. Could you give more detail about this please? |
I wish i had seen your post a few minutes earlier. I just flagged an ad on CL like I referred to and when I looked again it was already deleted. I would have posted a link for you to see one.
Usually the ad is not text, it is an image. In the image is an email address, usually gmail or one of the other "throw away" email providers, no phone. Most of the ads I see are cars, I like cars. The price is very often in the $2400-$2700 range and pretty ridiculously underpriced. I saw a post on a hacker website about the group one time and didn't pay any attention to it, should have. I sold a truck on CL a few years ago that was in that price range. My ad kept getting flagged and deleted. I posted a plea in the ad to quit flagging my ad, call me, it's a legitimate deal. It finally stuck and I sold it. I was searching for the rational behind the flagging and deleting when I read the hacker post. |
Thanks!
So anybody can flag and delete an ad thought to be a scam? |
