Ford F-150 acting odd.

When my truck is idling the engine revs from 800 rpms to 1100 rpms every 8 seconds. Any thoughts?

My thought is that a piston and connecting rod have already exited through the side of the block and idling is no longer a concern.

Idle Speed Control solenoid might be gummed up. That or coolant and/or ambient temp sensors?

AFAIK, it should be on the throttle body. Get a parts diagram from Ford or a dealer of Ford parts online.

1. What year is this behemoth?

2. What engine?

3. How many miles on it?

4. What modifications have been done?

5. What maintenance has been done/deferred?

6. How often is it driven?

The devil is in the details...and you really haven't provided very many.
