Same to you!;)

Tonight I will be baking a fresh pumpkin pie and a mixed fruit pie. I use brown sugar in my pies for extra kick.

Yummmmm!

I thought I'd get out of cooking for Thanksgiving...no such luck. Somehow, even though we are the only ones that live out of town, we got picked to do it. I'll get up tomorrow morning and start on the bird and ham, the wife will be on the baked beans and tater salad. Costco is baking the pumpkin pie, as we wont have time for it. At least my brother's fiance will be doing something for once in her miserable life...she's making the candied yams. Stovetop has already made the dressing for us...I jsut have to add the butter and water.

All of this AFTER a 5 hour drive.

it ought to help you work up a good appetite!;)

Every once in a Blue Moon my birthday falls on Thanksgiving.
Or, as the G/F says "Thanksgiving is on my birthday this year"
I'll drink to that. :D:cool:

I made the brine last night. Bird is defrosted, and will bathe in the brine later today.

A happy Thanksgiving to you all, as well.

Note I resisted the urge to make any political statement....

May I suggest taking some time for these holiday classics, again:

Alice's Restaurant - the song, not the lame movie.

Planes. Trains and Automobiles - now out on BluRay

Scent of a Woman - how many of you remember that it's about Thanksgiving?

The Thanksgiving Song

Happy Thanksgiving - enjoy what ever you do on that day:cool:

Local Walmart was fresh out of brown sugar...and a lot of other stuff that people typically need for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner!

Wasn't sure if the empty shelves were the result of Thanksgiving...or an impending hurricane!!!

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

The same thing happens to me, since Nov 22 is my birthday. JFK's assassination and Charles De Gaulle's birthday...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Went for a walk along the South Platte today and ended up in Riverside Cemetery visiting Silas Soule's grave. There's a human being we can be thankful for today. Involved in the Underground Railiway helping slaves in Kansas and even sneaking into John Brown's jail cell in an attempt to free him, he ended up in Colorado as a captain in the first 1st Colorado Cavalry. On the morning of Nov 29th, 1864 at the age of 26 he refused to allow his men to fire on defenseless Native Americans camped along Sand Creek as Col. John Chivington, a Methodist minister, slaughtered them. He ended up testifying against Chivington and paying with his life when he was shot dead April 23, 1865 at the age of 27 outside his house on a Denver street by a hit man probably hired by men loyal to Chivington. Exodus 23:2 “You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice"
