need help with my "oil burner"

Not the MB or the TDI, but my home oil burner. About 20-30 seconds after it starts to run the flame will go out for 5-10 seconds then it will reignite. Then while it is running it sound like it is "missing". I changed the main filter and cleaned the filter in the pump. I also installed a new nozzel and cleaned the "eye". Anyone have any ideas? It is a Beckett model AFG.

I have heard of this problem before and I believe the problem was the ignitor gap was not correct. I have never had a house with that kind of heating system though.
Good Luck!
Adam

Thanks, gentlemen. Adam, I will move the electrodes closer and see if that helps.
Joe, is it the fuel line from the tank that you are talking about or the one that goes to the nozzel?

you could try flushing the lines with denatured alchohol,, not the pump though, it may cause adverse effects.

And is the motor well lubed? Might thermal overload and shut down.

I don’t follow. I don’t see conclusive evidence of that.

manuelcherri may have been dealing with the same issue and found the thread on a search.
