Had it with Norton 360, recommendations?

I am about fed up with Norton 360. It is effective in that nothing gets thru, but its also inconvenient. It won't even allow me to store passwords. It consumes a LOT of disc space.

Its been on the computer for a few years, and I haven't paid attention to current protection products.
What do you all use?
Do you like it"
What would you buy if you were buying now?

I use Norton Internet Security and it's invisible. It has never blocked me from saving a password or doing anything I really want to.

I have AVG Free Edition running on one machine and Microsoft Security Essentials running on another. They both seem to do what they are supposed to do and they are free. I think they all consume a lot of space and can be intrusive- the Microsoft may be less so.

Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and works fine I think (so far).

The only complaint is that it does not keep a log of it's virus zapping activity. Apparently, it just does it. However, there is a tab to see what it has quarantined but it is always empty. Not very comforting.

I hope things have changed, but Symantec/Norton software used to be a real PIA to uninstall.

Lat year Norton claimed that the issues of speed would be addressed and that they recognized they have been making crap software. I am not sure if the current versions have addressed all the issues.

I find it amusing that the principle idea behind installing such software is to have a better computing experience. Yet that very software often makes it a nightmare. No software should slow, inhibit or block any user action unless required.

Guess that is why I use a Mac. No one this crap is required.

Go for the free MS one. It works pretty well. Big security suites are just unnecessary for pretty much everyone. Save your money and never buy one again.

I installed it without drama on this computer. On my previous computer I had to allow the rep to take it over to get Norton installed. A friend gave up and installed McAfee instead.
I'm pleased with the performance of 360.

Microsoft Security Essentials.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows

No problems for quite some time, and its free. Low resource usage, no annoying dialogues.
