Audi quattro fans

I've seen a lot of negative comments about Audi on this board. Therefore I don't expect much, but check out the new Quattro...rumored to be going into production, "confirmed" by Audi folks themselves off the record.

I think its awesome, 2800lbs and 400+ hp , AWD, looks good. I'd imagine it as a replacement for the TT-RS

This is one of this things I don't understand as well. Back in Europe AUDI are hugely popular and for the last few years outselling BMW and MB. perhaps one of the reason is the VW Group diesel engines or maybe just the service provided by the dealers is far superior than one in the US.... I don't know. In Germany especially you can see 15 years old AUDI's in perfect condition with well over 500 000 miles on them.

Not from me. As a true car enthusiast, I appreciate Audis. Dad had an '81 5000T then 20 years later he had an A6 2.7T. As a kid I did neutral drops in the '81, Dad traded it on a '86 Saab 9000T. Saab was much more reliable. I still see his old A6 parked at his indy's shop. The next owner brings it there and for the past year has been trying to hunt down a mysterious oil leak. Glad he didn't pass that car onto me. Audis are a lot of fun, but seem to be more expensive to own than their German counterparts.

I have no doubt that the new Quattro is a fabulous car when sitting in the drivers seat.

In the early 2000's we had a few of them as company cars in a few of our European offices and I got to drive them a good bit. Also the guy that ran our Milan office bought a new one every few years and I drove all of them. I loved drivig them, but it seemed that all of them were plagued with electrical problems.

This involves five cars, so any evidence of electrical gremlins in them being common would be totally anecdotal, BUT five out of five?

If I get the chance to drive one as a rental car, great, if it's a choice for me to own? I'll pass.
