Given his severe alcoholism, he wanted to die anyway, a long time ago. He just committed suicide on the installment plan.

For an intelligent man, he certainly did some questionable things. But he chose to live his life as seemed best to him, and many around the globe don't have that opportunity, which was one of the things he railed against.

I think my favorite thing about him is that he didn't like Michael Moore.

RIP, Mr. Hitchens. (I rather suspect Ben Stein is shaking his head, sadly, too.)

His wit seemed to win me over even when his commitments were questionable. I really liked his books on Paine and Orwell.
