Depending on their year of manufacture, a person with resources might do well in buying all of them and importing them to the USA.

OK Kerry, they are per-registered vehicle

How can you buy a car in the US with several thousand miles on the clock from a dealer and you are register as the first owner?

Military register is different that the rest of the UK, so if you buy one of them, they will register the truck in DVLA (DMV in the UK) and you as the first owner.

You would fit 2 in a 40' container. Container shipping rates are not that high.

That's weird that site had way more prices quoted about 1 month ago. None of this price on application rubbish. I don't know why they do that - what's the point? They either want to sell it or they don't. Name your price and cut the crap.

I looked into the G-Wagen, the 1986 diesel ones, for a friend of mine with a ranch in Texas. He was looking for a ranch truck so he would not have been putting it on the road.

This was some months ago and the asking price for a soft top version then translated into about $7,500. Throw in some transportation and getting them DOT'ed and EPA'ed was the deal killer for him.

I found the EPA would have been easy since these are 1986 and Diesel. I could not wade through all the DOT before my friend decided against the purchase, so I quit working on it.

And as silly as this will sound to those of us here..... My friend was also concerned about the lack of A/C and how much that would cost to add.

I don't know if the seller is open to offers, but from what I could tell you could do just as well buying one that is already here. Of course, any one that is here now would have a lot more miles on it.
