Verizon's got me...

I kind of got screwed on my current contract and want out of my lame old flip phone for a shiny new 16GB Iphone 4s.

I don't have a problem buying the Iphone with a 2 year contract at $199, or paying the $111 a month to run it.

What I do have a problem with is paying Verizon $130 to let me out of my current contract 10 months early. So I can sign right back up with them, and spend more money every month for 24 months.

These guys just don't deal.

Think if I charged the $130 on a CC and did a dispute it would stick? I'm betting not.

Switch to Sprint and pay $30 less a month; 4 months and you have your $130 back. Plus it's unlimited data.

I just priced out Sprint its $99.99 a month for a comparable plan.

The only downside is that 90% of the people I talk to have Verizon, so I'll get nicked for out of network calls with Sprint and will probably have to upgrade to unlimited for another $10 a month.

So right back to where I started, $110ish a month.

I pay $79 with Sprint with an unlimited data plan.

I hate cell phones and only use one when I travel. I think $100 per month is absurd and worse with a contract, and even WORSE yet to pay $130 to get out of a multi year contract.

But then, that is just me, what do *I* know? I am fully retired, get up and go to bed whenever, eat when I am hungry, and if I get bored get in one of the cars and go somewhere.....

And, I don't even wear a watch every day any more.. ( <---as some lawyer from Chicago I talked to in Club Med in Mexico a long time ago, said " You can always ask some azzwhole what time it is!")

Doesn't sound real. You're not terminating the contract, you are upgrading. You may be eligible for a rebate or a discount, if you had the contract long enough.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no 'early termination charges', if you intend to upgrade your phone.

I would double check with another rep.

Ditch Verizon entirely, go with Virgin Mobile. $55/month unlimited data/text/talk. No contract. Sprint network. You pay full price for the phone, but at this monthly rate you'll make it back up right quick.

I'll NEVER sign up for a cell phone contract again. Bastages make lots of money off their termination fees.

How did you get screwed? Was the service bad or was the handset bad? You can thank apple for the phone discounting system NEW iPhones are $650 and that is what the carriers pay Apple.

Why is it a "lame old flip phone"............because everybody else must have an I-phone...........or the world comes to an end?

You lived 26 years without an I-phone. I'm quite sure you can live another 26 without it.

I have the Motorola Razr and I'm quite sure that it's more than sufficient for the next 20 years.

Holy Landline, Batman!

I thought my brother was the only adult in North America who did not own a cell phone? Guess I'll have to refer to him as the only guy east of the Mississippi who does't.

He brags about how he has no footprint on the internet too!

C'est la Vie!
