Citrus Trees

Does anyone on the forum know anything about citrus trees?

Last year I planted a nice little Meyer Lemon I have been doing deep watering 1 time a week since planting and it was fertilized about 1 week after planting.

Just about the first week of Nov. last year the leaves started turning yellow and falling off. The leaves will turn completely yellow down to the veins and stems before falling off??

It is strange because the tree has blossoms all over it and even has new blossoms coming out. Also, it has about 25 or 30 small lemons on it at this time. Most of them are about the size of an acorn. There are a few that are approaching golf ball size.

After doing some research it appears that it could be an Iron deficiency or over watering. I pretty sure it is not the watering as the tree is in sandy Florida soil (Orange Groves all around me) with potting soil and manure in the mix. It has good drainage.

I planted a Persian Lime at about the same time last summer in a different part of the yard (same type of soil). It is doing fine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I wish I knew. We have a small collection of trees and of all of them our Meyer Lemon is the trooper. Having the same issue as you on several of the other trees. I blame the freezes last year. There are several websites that show how to read the foliage, but they are all confusing to me. I doubt it's iron- more likely lack of nitrogen, magnesium or manganese. I am going to fertilize them big time in about a month and see if that helps (or kills them)

Thanks for the input and the PM's!!

Now I am almost certain it is an overwatering issue. I have been reading that it can recover quite well. I just need to leave it alone for a while and keep the pests at bay.

Regards,
