Christian Right Does Good

Jesus statue to remain, Fed rules no joy for Atheist group.
Public outrage overpowers non religious groups.

Quote:
Last August, a Wisconsin atheist organization challenged the Forest Service permit, arguing it was an unconstitutional state endorsement of religion. The Forest Service initially opted to remove the statue, but suspended that decision for a public review.
Quote:
In a press release delivered this afternoon, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) announced:
…today’s decision by the federal government to renew a lease that keeps in place a World War II memorial on a Montana mountain — a statue of Jesus — is a “significant victory” and represents a sound defeat for an atheist organization that challenged the memorial.
Praise Jesus

I have no doubt that this is a watershed moment, and big statues of Jesus will begin springing up on public land across the nation, while atheists everywhere cower in the bushes licking their wounds.

I wonder if they will appeal the decision to a Federal court. If they can I hope they do.

I am sure that there is a howling claque of the pitchfork and torch brigade, descended from the Salem witchcraft days in Massachusetts, hundreds of years ago, that would LOVE to preside over the public crucifixion of the leader of those horrible Montana atheists.

Their moment has arrived.

Jesus H Christ in a Mens Wearhouse suit, what a country.

Appeal what, the decision to renew a permit?

The whole thing arose when the atheist group sent a threatening letter to the forest service, whining about a WWII memorial put there in the early 50s by war vets.

The service initially indicated they were not going to renew the permit, and then got enough flak that they decided to solicit comments. Those supported renewal, which is what the service did.

If the freedom from reality foundation wants to sue, they are free to do so. They could also apply for their own permit to put up a display of their own.

For now, though, all that has happened is that a long-standing permit has been renewed, and a WWII memorial remains up.

Well, I suppose you'd have to check with the folks that commissioned the memorial. After all, they were lucky enough to come back after fighting alongside so many who died. I'm guessing they knew what they wanted.

Apparently you know better than I not only what they wanted, but how much they appreciate you making light of their memorial.
