Best Car/Metal Scrap Pricing?

Hello,

If you may have seen my thread in the parts for sale section, I had a rusty 1975 280C that I was trying to sell. I never got any offers, so this afternoon, I started pulling off every somewhat valuable part from the car. I have a few more items to pull, but was wondering about how to get rid of the left over rolling chassis.

I called Pull-A-Part and got an offer for ~$150, but that was for the complete car.

What would be the best way to go about getting the highest price? Just call all the local junkyards or is there a known highest payer?

(Dallas, TX)

Thank You

Take it down to the scrap metal yard yourself. Call the junk haulers and get half or less.

To get top price you have to drive it down to the P&P. They will pay top dollar for a running junker. A blown engine, or a hot under hood fire or the transmission dead, and they have to come and pick it up, you'll not get much.

I got about 250 per ton a couple of weeks ago on my 280 shell which weighed about 1200. $139.
