Engine Steamer

Anyone use one?

I was thinking about getting one to clean up some of my engine bays.

Something like this?

Tried hand steamers in the past and found they don't have enough power to do much more than a solvent or degreaser.

Every carwash I've seen has signs stating no degreasing chemicals may be used. I'm pretty hesitant about pointing the high pressure sprayer at it.

I haven't tried one in a few years but I haven't had much luck with degreasers.

I've been high pressure spraying my engine bays since the early 70's. Gasser and diesels. Do it routinely. Only problem I've ever had is water inside the distributor cap now and again. No need for degreasing chemicals.

Probably a waste of time and money for that hand held unit.

Grainger had a couple nice ones that had a kerosene heater/pressure wash. Cost a bit.Worked real well.

The cheapest steamer cleaner I found on Grainger was $1650. Pretty certain I could get all 4 of my cars engine bays detailed at a shop for that price.

Places like Harbor Fgt have pressure washers that work for not much more.

A good soaking with something like Purple degreaser before pressure washing sure makes a difference too.
