Asking Saudi Arabia to pump up production

In my opinion this is not the answer:

increase oil production

I lived in Saudi Arabia for a period of time.

One of these days the whole Arab world is going to give Uncle Sam the Hawaiian Goodluck sign and then what?
Besides, our problem here is from EPA regs offing our refining capacity I believe.

I read or heard some where that there had not been a new refinery built in this country since the late 70's/early 80's time frame. If that was true, it makes a lot of sense on how a hurricane in the gulf of mexico can cause gas prices to spike in Maine. And with summer coming on the prices will automatically go higher because of all the different blends required by Ca,Md,Pa,NY,NJ ETC.
What I mean is the summer blends have high oxegenators in them to reduce emmissions and reactions with the high temps and humidity. (I have a nephew that works at Conoco Phillips that explained all this stuff) Quite interesting.

We are officially a net exporter of gas and oil for the first time in history. There's plenty of oil. Speculators are doing this.

We do have, or at least had much refining capacity, as mentioned. I've also heard some are shutting down, why?

Greed?

TWo shut down around Philly and one in the Virgin Islands that supply the east coast pretty much.
VI was supposed to get 700 million in EPA retrofits, they told them pound salt.
East coast refineries process Brent crude and the ones out west do a dirtier type oil which uses different set up from what I read.
And they are exporting gas because they get a better price than here.

Run 'closing refineries' on google for more.

1. Choke the EPA and get more refineries, it's a matter of national security

2. Pump the middle east dry and let them blow away back to medevial times...

I agree, open those public lands and "drill baby drill."

I got a kick out of Slick Barry claiming a few days ago that we were pumping more oil from US soil than ever before. Another of his half truths. We are INDEED pumping more oil from private land, but due to suppressed production on public land we are NOT altogether pumping more oil than ever. Good ol' Slick Barry.

The news report I heard mentioned refining is a low profit undertaking.
