Ugandan leaders have had a long standing relationshiop with US religious fundamentalists. Jeff Sharlet has written a fair amount about it. I remember reading a year or so ago about the murder of a Ugandan gay man whose murderers had apparently been spurred to action by Christian religious fervor.
