Directv question...

Is anyone else having issues with channels switching around? I'll be watching DiY and Encore some in for a bit. I was just watching Cloo and FXM came through.

I've had the tech out twice, and the box is fine, he says.

He's coming back this afternoon...same reason.

Let's see if I understand, say you have it on channel 230 with show A and all of a sudden it cuts to show B from another channel but you are still on 230?

If so, then no, I have not experienced that.

Yup...that's the problem I'm getting.

I changed to DirecTV several years ago and have never seen such a problem. Best of luck in fixing it though.

I had a tech out earlier in the week, and he couldn't find anything wrong, but gave me his phone number if it acted up again. I called and he came back this afternoon...he'll be back tomorrow with a new decoder box, as this one seems to have taken a dump on us.

Now we're kinda screwed here...we'll be losing everything we DVR'd. Look like I'll be buying an external HD in the near future so this doesn't happen again.

I've had Direct Tv for over 15 years, and have experienced no problems like that.
The only issue I have is that after upgrading to HD the menu functions seem slower.

It depends on which receiver you have as to the speed of the menu. We have the latest version (less than 9 months old) and was told that the latest update sped up the menu. If yours is hooked up to the internet, you should have the update by now.

As for the box, the tech said that he's never had this type of issue before with the new ones, so this is a first for him.

On a good note, he's giving me a good, used HD decoder i can use in my bedroom. The one we have there isn't HD. He said that one of his other customers owned it, but upgraded to the latest and greatest, and didn't want the old one anymore.
