No, you're missing the point and making poor comparisons. In Florida, the police didn't arrest anyone, or even perform a drug or sobriety test on the shooter, despite there being a fatality, while they DID perform a drug test on the deceased victim. The police, during the 911 call, directed the shooter to STOP following the victim yet he persisted.

In Kansas City <>, the police are still seeking the perpetrators, the father says he's not sure if it's racial, and the "severe" burns are peeling skin and singed hair.

That's it. I commend the father for not making it a racial incident if it wasn't one. To counter your point - the media DID say it was racial in Kansas City <> at outset, where in Florida they did NOT say it was racial at the outset. Where's the bias? Kansas City: injured white victim, immediately labelled hate crime by media. Florida: dead black victim, immediately labelled self-defense by police, unquestioned by media.

And you do realize the second link you posted was from 2009, don't you? Did you go searching for "white children set on fire" or something? How is a two and half-year old story comparable? There's no mention of race in the story. He was attacked by his friends. He appeared on TV (Good Morning America). He got a trust fund set up for his injuries.

You want race?
Blond, green-eyed youth survives horrific burns, goes on TV and gets trust fund. Police arrest five teens and charge with murder.
Black, hoodied youth is shot and killed by adult male after police tell him to stop; police question shooter but don't refer case to Grand Jury until media outcry. No arrests to date.

Do you see the difference? White victims: arrests, claims of hate crime by blacks - you even imply fake black perpetrators in the second scenario. Black victim: self-defense, no arrests.

Obama (is he one of "the usual suspects" to which you refer?) didn't direct the Justice Department to investigate. The local Florida officials REQUESTED it. He responded to questions about it, he didn't volunteer statements. You're spinning the facts to fit your anti-Obama bias. And I have to assume, based on your efforts in this thread, that your bias isn't based on his political party or economic policies.
I will agree with you: "What is truly disgusting about these incidents is that the loss of a human life is being used to further an agenda, and further divide us." Only it's not how you intended it.

There are, of course, a unfortunately large number of dysfunctional and criminal African Americans out and about. As a percentage of the black population, it isn't too large but it's true that black criminals exist.

Both incidents are horrible. The big difference is the apparent slap on the wrist that Zimmerman received with the cops almost treating him like one of their own.

The Martin killing has become a national issue with some relevance to our culture. Obama's remarks were appropriate.

"I think all of us have to do some soul searching to figure out how does something like this happen. And that means that we examine the laws and the context for what happened.

"And I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together - federal, state and local - to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened."

either way the statements seem to imply SOMETHING to do with race. Why not say, "you get what you deserve, jerk, a**hole, loser, etc." ???

They use racial terminology because race is the motivating factor behind the attack.
