Am I noticing more and more New Speak. ( 1984 style.)?

If you loose your job....it's now Work force rebalancing. New Speak for "Your fired !"

I wonder what words or phrases you are seeing that try to defuse the impact of the original word/s.

Missspoke = Lied.

Prejudicial Attack.( Hate Crime ) = Bias-motivated crime.

Embezzlement = White Collar Crime .

...and while I'm at it, what happened to the phrase..."I'm responsible ". (?)

First there was downsizing. That only applied to the lower minions.

Then there was rightsizing. (For the more Professional staff members.)

And for senior management there was 'leaving to pursue other opportunities'.

For Public servants it is 'leaving to spend more time with my family'.
