DFW area tornado check in
I'm in Arlington and OK. The tornado hit a few miles west of me. Sirens went off and the chit hit the fan. Over in a flash (OK about an hour).

I took one look at the radar and saw that solid line of red and yellow headed our way. Loaded the wife and the dawg in the car and drove down to West. Had lunch at the Czech Stop as the line passed north of us. Headed back home. Just about that time the first tornados were starting along I-20. Listened to it all unfold on the radio. No damage in our area, just a lot of rain.

I worked from home, we had a little bit of wind and some hail. I'm not sure if my car was damaged, i'll find out tomorrow when I wash it.
GF has hit pretty bad.

Glad to hear from all of you. Hope the others are OK.
The video was terrifying. Hurricane--Tornado--pick your poison. One is massive size with destruction over hundred of miles. The other is total and complete devastation on a narrow, maybe yards wide, path. Both are awesome forces of nature.

We corralled workers into our lab for safety as tornados were swirling in the surrounding areas. Got baseball-sized hail during the melee, and most cars in the parking lot were dinged heavily and/or windows shattered. But all of us were safe.
I drove the Lexus to work, so I shrugged off the hail dings. Ironically, my daughter is participating in a soccer tournament this weekend, and the fields are located near where the tractor trailers were seen flying around in the video!

I watched it all on TV from a bar in the Boston airport. Got live updates via mobile phone from my wife, who was hunkered down in the master bedroom closet. Plano was spared the worst of it, so no real damage in our area.
I flew in about 11PM after a seriously rough flight. Only time I've ever been happy to be on US Airways - American cancelled all outgoing and incoming flights after the storm. The E55 wagon was in covered parking at the airport, so no damage to it despite th golf ball sized hail that pummelled the airport. |

Don't airports have radar systems capable of detecting windshear nowadays? It's my understanding the airport closes when windshear reaches unsafe levels. While I'm no bigger fan of air travel than anyone else, I do recognize that flying from Charlotte to DFW is much safer than the drive home from DFW to Plano. |

Nothing much in my neighborhood... got skipped over by the storm. I was able to get cell phone video of the tornado crossing around the I-20 and Little Rd area from about 2-3 miles away when I was at work. Sounded like continuous thunder as that storm passed through. About three minutes after that I saw the power line flashes in the same area. Since it's bluebonnet season the highway right-of-ways were not mowed, and some areas near that intersection look as if the plants there were flattened out compared to surrounding areas.

Happy to hear you all are ok! Anyone in the area who hasn't been heard from yet?
