Bad day

Yesterday i came home from work and the Lovely Mrs. W. asked how my day was. I said that the previous day's colon picture taking session had been the high point of my day.

I am thinking of getting a dog so someone will always like me without any questions.

Oh well. Today will be much better.

Dogs love you, even when you put silly things on their head...

I waited until my kid became a teen before I got a dog. Perfect timing IMHO, since the dog adores me, and the kid, well...

Oh yeah, they're wearing their training collars but the damned collars aren't turned on. S**t!

Do I detect a lack of sympathy on the distaff side?

dont feel too bad about the procedure. Im 30 and I have to get the same dam thing done every year, as well as an endoscopy.

Its humiliating, but at least they put you out for it these days. Just think, used to be, you were awake for the whole thing.

I gotta go. At 30, I have been the oldest surviving adult male in my family bloodline for the last 10 years. Have an uncle who married in, but he doesn't share the same risk. Everyone else had some kind of terminal cancer, or which colon and throat are very common.

Its a pain, but its worth it in the long run. Ill put up with some humiliation to be able to see some grand kids some day I figure.

thats the way t walgamuth has to look at it.

You guys have missed my point!

The colonoscopy was my high point! It was my big success for yesterday and it occurred the day before! That's how bad yesterday was.

BTW, I had it without sedation and it went just fine. I have pretty well gotten completely back to normal physically. Perhaps there was lingering emotional/mental issues yesterday making me feel like it all was going to *****.

I am back closer to my fighting self today.

Glad to hear it!

I figured that was the gist of your post, so I put up a picture of my lovable goofy dog... nothing like a goofy dog picture for the morale

Well, you'll have to forgive me on account of my irony board was out.

This procedure is something I've been putting off with the ridiculous and callow excuse that my other medical issues trump a colonoscopy, despite the fact that my mother died 4 years ago of colon cancer, totally untreated. She had not been to a doctor since I was born and used to laugh at the medicos, yet she made it to 82 and only spent 2 days in the dreaded hospital before kind nature signaled her retreat.

It is heartening and encouraging to read your apprehensions and experiences. It emboldens me to have it done. I don't fear death as it could come at any time with my other issues but the only thing I truly fear are hospitals with their environment of disease and suffering, added to a lack of control. Irrational perhaps, but I am human, as I often remind myself.

Sorry to hear about your mom. One can certainly argue that not treating cancer is a reasonable option.

Mine was done in an outpatient facility.

Really not bad at all I thought. The preparation was worse than the proceedure (drinking laxativem etc.) and that was not all that bad. You probably should go do it.

Tom W-

When you had your colonoscopy, did they let you see what was on the screen?
I had one done 5 years ago and they just put me out, but if it's not that bad a sensation and they let you look, I might try that next time...
