Can't you cut a new one out of gasket material? Or find an o-ring that fits the groove? You can always weld it on

I put a new carb on it, and in my haste to start tilling failed to flush the gas tank and line. It ran for a while and quit, took it apart and the main inlet was clogged with tank smegma so cleaned it out, flushed everything and then the damned float gasket didn't want to go back on straight. I finally got it to seat and not leak, but what a PITA.
The only reasonably priced carb I could find for the thing was an Oregon replacement, I don't know if that's part of the issue or not.

Making some of the things I have over the years as afforded my toolbox to contain rubber gasket spools as small as 0.010" in diameter, and 1/32 square. I've been lucky enough to have that to make new ones as needed.

Bravo to you for getting it back together.

Several years ago I replaced the 7hp Wis/Robin on my gold dredge with a 10hp Diesel Yanmar clone. Despite being a lot heavier (105lbs dry) I can't say enough about how great that diesel engine is. It has gobs of power and pulls the 400GPM pump and 125 PSI twin piston compressor without breaking a sweat. When I see other prospectors fighting with gas engines not starting, it makes me love that diesel even more. No ignition system or plug to fail, no gummy carb from sitting all winter, just fuel it up with whatever and pull the rope. It will start within 2 pulls with a decent ambient, never more than 4 pulls at freezing.

Ended up putting the old Wisco on a front tine tiller... neighbors love to borrow it.

Ha! A front tine tiller, no matter the engine, is nothing but punishment.

Yeah, I'm not too crazy about the LAWNS either. If I can't eat it, milk it, sell it or trade it I'm not real interested in spending a lot of time and money growing it.

Goats will eat all of your landscape plants, girdle the bark off your trees and concentrate on anything head height or above first. When everything else is toast, they'll deign to look down on your lawn. They're browsers, like deer, not grazers like their benighted cousins the sheep and cattle. It would cost you a grand's worth of RoundUp to equal what a half dozen goats can do to an acre in a matter of weeks.

Now, how many do you want?
