92 500SL blowing Black smoke heavy @ idle

Hi Everyone,
Have great 92 500SL great condition daily driver, 150,000 miles, well maintained, just one day started blowing heavy black smoke just at idle, this smoke is thick, so far I changed fuel filter ( next to fuel pump ) fuel pressure regulator, several vacuum hoses, nothing seems to change this embarishing problem. Mechanic's do not want to waste time because of year.
This must be a simple problem, it seems it started a little after my transmission maintenance flush.

Thanks for any advice

You should post this in the technical section of the board.

If you were sucking transmission fluid into your intake, which is possible through a blown modulation valve, you would be blowing white smoke.

This almost has to be an over rich problem. Pull your spark plugs and see if they are sooty black. If so then your entire system is running rich. If only a few or maybe just one plug is sooty then your problem is your plugs are starting to break down. In that case a new set of plugs, spark plug wires and a cap and rotor would be in order.

You might also look for a Mercedes only repair shop. All the ones I have ever used would work on anything with a Mercedes logo on it; the year made no difference to them.
