I only do the legal ones. I don't think we have that problem regarding tobacco grown on farms in Virginia, or beer made in Milwaukee from barley and hops grown in the mid-west. I had some extremely kick-ass coffee grown in Kenya and roasted in Minden Nevada the other day and I don't think we have mass killings related to that either. Some of my friends smoke the wacky weed, but they tell me the Mexican stuff is lousy and the good stuff comes from California. The really good stuff is from British Columbia, or so I hear.

But anyway, the War on Some Drugs is an idea who's time has come and gone. By the way, I've seen how meth is made and after seeing that I can't believe anyone who knows that would still want to ingest that stuff.

Chances are the "good stuff" coming from CA is produced by the cartels too. The only way to be sure is to grow your own.

Of course it was.... they were killed by the cartels, and the cartels do this kind of thing to protect their income stream, which is as large as it is because the unnaturally high price associated with their product due to it being illegal.

Pretty simple actually, but you would have to remove yourself from the republican idea that legislation can stop people from doing drugs. Remove the profit margin and watch the crime surrounding he drug trade dwindle.

Everything tastes better when you grow it yourself. (even if it doesn't)

I wish it was a Republican idea, but I'm afraid both parties are guilty on this one.

I would say it slightly differently. We don't need to remove the profit margin, we need to make it so that the profit margin goes to legitimate businesses. I doubt that many people in Washington or the various state capitals believe that our war on drugs is a good idea, but it is easier for them to take the law-and-order position than it is to do the right thing. Both parties are guilty.

Agreed that both parties have a stake in our current state of drug laws, but I have seen more of a trend away from the strict laws and mandatory sentences coming from the D's than the R's.
